Answers:
Hirsutism, hair on the face, chest, and other areas, CAN be a sign of polycystic ovarian syndrome. Other symptoms are irregular periods, glucose intolerance, weight gain for unkonwn reason.
The only way to truly diagnose PCOS is to have an exam by a gynecologist with an ultrasound, glucose tolerance test, and some other bloodwork, such as TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone), FSH and LH levels, prolactin levels, and yes, even testosterone levels.
If you haven't had a gynecologic exam yet, you are at an age where it is recommended to begin having annual exams.
There are simple treatments for PCOS with medications, but only a physician can help you decide what the best treatment for you is.
