Does Microgynon 30 Delay your period?

My doctor prescribed me these tablets as im going on holiday soon and im due on my period so i need to delay them.He didnt mention to me anything about this pill so does anyone know if these completly delay your period and when to take them.Can you take it a few days before my periods due or when ive started already.I see these tablets are mostly for women not wanting to get pregnant so i dont know why he gave me these.Any serious answers greatly appreciated thanks.

I take these tablets now so I can help you:

Firstly, start taking the pack straight away. you need to get a certain amount of the hormone in your body first for it to work.

General rule (taking for contraceptive purposes) is to take the tablet for 21 days then have 7 days where you don't take it. At some stage during the 7 days you will bleed, but it's not a proper period really. Then after the 7 days, start taking the next packet. BUT - if I have been going on holiday, I don't have the 7 days without the tablets. As soon as I finish one packet, I start the next packet the following night and then I do not bleed at all.

It is not recommended though to do this for more than once. You need to stop then after using two packets consecutively, wait the 7 days and then start it again, because it's harmful to your body to delay the bleed for so long.
