For some ppl it has been known to make ur periods shorter and lighter might even stop completely. For others it can make their periods longer I had a 30 day period on the depo provera shot. Now im on the nuva ring and I don't have a period at all. When I first got on it I used to spot for about 3 days but sometimes the longer u use birth control the lighter ur periods get. It just depends on both the person and the type of birth control u decide to take
The pill can help with your heavy periods. Depo DOES make you gain weight!! I was talking to my doctor today about birth control options. She said that depo does make you gain weight but it also depends on the person. She's seen no weight gain to someone gaining 20lbs. Talk to your doctor about your options. Stay away from Yaz. Its been all over the news/tv. My doctor gave me the newer version of Yaz but I'm not going to continue to take it. The side effects are crazy. There are other birth controls out there that will help your heavy periods.
Goodluck
Personal Experience- I'm currently bleeding a lot. Five weeks PP and I dont normally have heavy periods. I'm looking for a birth control that can help with this ONE heavy period and pray the rest are back to my normal LIGHT period.
Yes. Birth control pills will reduce ur flow, and regulate ur period. If you get the shot which is what i do, it will help even more because most people who get the shot get there periods every 3 months or so and it is ver very light. You only get the shot every 3 months, its cheap, and it doesnt hurt and its called the Depo shot. I would just tell ur mom, she obviously is ok with it, good luck:)
P.S. the depo shot does not make u gain weight, its a myth.
In general it should help you a lot. I think you should definitely try it out. If it doesn't work, then you've lost nothing. If it works, then you've really improved your quality of life.
Yes it will help with your heavy periods but you had better talk to your dr .
