Discharge from the nipple may be milky, yellowish watery fluid, thick pus or blood!. Each of these occurs due to different reasons!. During pregnancy a milky dishcarge can occur!. Pus or yellow discharge can result from a bacterial infection of the nipple!. Bleeding can occur from injuries or from a ruptured blood vessel and this could be due to abnormal mass around the nipple or deep within the breast tissue!.
If the skin over it is red, swollen, cut or oozing, a physician needs to be consulted for appropriate treatment!. You could minimise the use of soap over the nipples and the breast for a week!. Avoid rubbing the part hard while towelling yourself dry!.
