You are right, you can get a yeast infection at any time, whether you are sexually active or not!.
You really will want to get to a doctor to have it officially diagnosed, but in the meantime, you can try using plain, unsweetened yogurt applied directly to your vagina to try to help with the itching and resetting the bacterial balance!.
I wouldn't suggest using actual over-the-counter yeast infection medications (like Monistat) until you do get it diagnosed, just in case it isn't really a yeast infection, but some other sort of bacterial infection!. You could potentially make the infection worse, if it isn't a yeast infection and you treat it using yeast infection meds!.
Luckily though, after you get this one diagnosed, if you ever get another one, you'll know what it is and you can self medicate using the OTC meds first, without going to the doctor!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
