Im getting my 2nd HPV shot today. Help?!?!
Question: Im getting my 2nd HPV shot today!. Help!?!!?
I've already gotten my first one, but it was a few months ago, AND it hurt a lot more than normal shots do!. The pain was the same when the nurse stuck the needle in, but when she actually injected the fluid it hurt!. Afterwards my arm ached and it SUCKED!
What can I do to distract myself when getting shots!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

This sounds CRAZY but it works for me: Make the shot sound like it will be the worst thing in your life and you won't live through it (over dramatize it basically)!. Once you get there and you believe it will be awful, the shot won't be as bad as you possibly thought it was (I do this for EVERY shot, not because I'm told to, just because I'm paranoid)
-Look AWAY from the needle (I never make eye contact with it, weird I know!.!.)
-Have a parent on the other side of you to squeeze their hand!.
-DON'T TENSE THE ARM THE SHOT IS BEING GIVEN IN!.
(that last one is probably why it hurt so badly after, even though all shots hurt a bit after)Www@Answer-Health@Com

OH girl! I know how you feel I thought they hit a nerve I couldn't Move my arm after my first shot!. Then when she called me to come get my second, I put it off for about a week, I was SO scared! I PROMISE you the second doesn't hurt as bad, it burned just a LITTLE bit more than a normal shot but I was SO relieved! Don't worry, unless your nurse actually HITS a nerve you should be okay!

I would bring someone with me and close your eyes and hold their hand!. When someone else is there with you, it will sometimes make you feel a bit better, but there's really not much to do about it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
