New to tampons?!

Question: New to tampons!?
Ok, so i am 14!. I have had my period for 6 months now!. I know i shouldn't use tampons quite yet (and yeah im kinda afraid of them :S) but i was thinking that i would use pads and only use tampons when i swim or dance!. (yes, btw, i am in competition dance and i have been on my period every single competition this year and it was really difficult to use pads cuz i couldn't wear underwear under my outfit and i had to put the pad on my tights!. I didn't dance well) But anyway, do you think this is a good idea (i mean only using tampons when i dance ect!.)

Also, if i do do this, i need some pointers!. I basically know how to use a tampon, and im not really worried about it being too uncomfortable, however, here are some other things i need to know!.

1!. (probably a silly question) you don't have to change tampons when you pee right!?

2!. how do you know when to change if you cant see it!

3!. when applying, how far does the applicator go in!? half way!?

THANKS SO MUCH!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

It is okay to use a tampon at anytime and at any age and at any point after you start your period!. If you want to just use it when you dance or swim, that is fine, but you can also use them at other times!.

1!.) You don't have to change a tampon when you use the bathroom because it is in a different "hole!." However, I do find sometimes that when I use my pelvic muscles to use the bathroom, it pushes my tampon down a little which causes it to feel a little uncomfortable and so I will change it if this happens!.

2!.) If you are on a heavier day of your period, you will need to change it more often, and you will know if you have waited too long for how much it can hold because it will leak and get on your underwear!. You will usually want to change it every 3-4 hours!. Never go longer than 8!. But if you want to "test" you flow, you can always wear a tampon and a pad!. When you see your period on your pad, you will know what is "too long" for your flow!.

3!.) I think you will be able to tell when looking at the applicator!. The entire top part that holds the tampon can be inserted!. Usually when a tampon is inserted and feels uncomfortable, or ou can feel it at all, you have not inserted it far enough!. A lot of girls get nervous that they will insert it too far!. But if you have problems with tampons, it is the reverse that is normally true!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

1!. No, you don't have to take it out!.

2!. Start out using lower absorbancy tampons!. Wear panty liners!. Check your tampon every 4-6 hours, or if you start leaking!. You should be able to feel if you're leaking!. Obviously, you have to remove the tampon to check it and you can not reuse it!.

3!. The applicator goes in up to the part you hold, and then you push the rest of it in!. And then pull it back out!.

Good luck! :DWww@Answer-Health@Com

They really aren't that big of a deal!. It seems weird when you first start ( you may think it got lost in your body) but they work awesome!.
1!. you don't need to if you have recently changed it!.
2!. you should change it every 3-4 hours unless you are having a heavy day with it!.
3!.put in the applicator as far as it can go!.!.!. trust me it wont get lost in your body!. I thought that too when i first got mine!.
Good Luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Well, at your age I wouldn't be using tampons!.!.!. but if you only use them while dancing or swimming, then I think you should be fine!. No, you don't have to change tampons when you pee!.!.!.!.!. it doesn't effect that area! :] You should change your tampon every 2-5 hours, depending on the brand and if your period is heavy, light, etc!. If you start taking you tampon out however, and it's not really bloody, don't put it back in! Don't ask!.!.!. just don't! It can be harmful, and it's realy disgusting if you think about it!.
The applicator goes in about halfway, but you should really read the package before inserting the tampon to make sure!. I wouldn't put one in if you're not sure exactly how to use it!.
I hope I could help!Www@Answer-Health@Com

well first, estimate how heavy your flow is, you dont want to get an extra absorbant one if you have a light flow, that gives you more of a risk for TSS!.

i started using tampons and i was really scared at first too,

but 1!. you dont have to change it when you pee, totally different hole
2!. to be safe, depending on your flow, you want to change it every 3-7 hours, and if your only using it for dance and swimming i actually highly reccomend using them
3!.there are two parts to the applicator, put it up so the end of the top/first part is at the entrance of your vagina, and insert it!. it will feel uncomfortable at first but if it gets to be really uncomfortable id push it in a bit more or take it out!. you can read the package and find out how to do it because brands are different!.

hope it helps!Www@Answer-Health@Com

There's absolutely no reason that you shouldn't be using tampons! Whenever you feel ready to use them, go ahead!. When you get ready, just practice a few times!. Be sure you don't get a size that's too big or it can cause minor pain when pushing in or pulling out!. When you put a tampon in you can either stand with one foot on the ground and one foot on the toilet seat and insert it that way (I put the applicator in all the way)!. Or you can sit on the toilet seat and spread your legs and do it that way!. Whichever is the most comfortable and easiest for you!. You don't have to change tampons when you pee, and as a general rule you should change it every few hours (depending on the absorbancy)!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You can use tampons as much as you want!. Once I started I couldn't stop because I find them so much easier and cleaner than pads!. It's less mess and you don't feel it!. I suggest a thin tampon to start out on because you aren't used to it!. But you should wear tampons when dancing or swimming!. I'm sure you'll find it easier!. To answer your questions:

1!. No, you don't have to change your tampon after you pee
2!. With time you will learn when it is best for you to change your tampon!. I say at least leave it in for 5 hours or it might hurt when you take it out!. (Maybe less time if you have a really heavy period)!. If you take it out too soon it hurts a little because it didn't absorb much!. You'll learn how your body works with time!. Do not leave it in over 8 hours because you could get an Toxic Shock Syndome which is rare, but possible!.
3!. I put the applicator 3/4 the way in from the end!. If you don't stick it in far enough it can be uncomfortable because you can feel it!.

Good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com
