First time gyno?!
Question: First time gyno!?
Tomorrow is my first appointment for the gyno!. I am so scared! I have never been there before, I'm 18 so I def should be going now!. Just tell me what a typical appt (first time) would be at the gynocologist!. I'm nervous that I'm different or something!. I don't know!. I guess every girl feels like this!. I'm scared of what questions they will ask me!? Help! I'm freaking out!Www@Answer-Health@Com

At first they do the same things that other doctors do!. You will be weighed and measured and have to leave a urine sample etc!. In the exam room, you will be undressed and put on a gown in private!. When they do the actual exam they will feel your breasts for lumps!. Then you will put your feet into stirrups (these keep your feet apart and allow your legs to naturally fall open for the doctor to do the internal part of the exam)!. The doctor will insert a speculum, this looks like a ducks bill that allows them to open you up!. Since it's you first time ask them to use a smaller speculum for your comfort!. When they insert it take a deep breath and RELAX!. If you are tense it will hurt!. They will take a swab sample of your cervical cells with a large Q-Tip to check for abnormal cells!. Then the speculum is removed, and the doctor will insert one or two fingers into your vagina while pressing down on your lower stomach, this helps them feel your uterus and ovaries for cysts or growths!. And the exam is done!. It's over fairly quickly!. Now is the time to ask ANY questions you have!. Don't feel demeaned or embarrassed by visiting the gyno, allow it to empower you by being a mature person who takes charge of her health!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
Don't be nervous, it's really not as bad as you think!. Parts of the exam are a bit uncomfortable but it goes quickly!. They will start by having you fill out a questionnaire or ask you questions about your sex life!.!.!.!.BE HONEST!.!.!.No one sees it but the doctors and it is important for them to know what your history is!. They will have you undress, put a gown on, and get up on the table!. If the doctor is a male there always be a female nurse in the room!. You will put your legs up in stirrups and they will start the exam!. Usually starting with a visual exam of the external parts!. They will then insert a speculum, sometimes plastic sometimes metal, it should be warm!. You may feel a little pressure but try to relax and not tense up your muscles!. They will swab your cervix with a little spatula and usually this causes some cramping but it is no worse then cramp during your period!. If you want a STD check done they will collect cells with additional swab!. The speculum will come out and the doctor will then insert their fingers inside you and push on the external part of your abdomen!. They are feeling for your uterus!. A breast exam will also be done, sometimes before and sometimes after!. It is relatively quick and if you are uncomfortable during any part of it just speak up!. Don't worry! You will undress,in private, put on a gown, feet in stirups (oh bring a magazine with you into the room, so you can read if you have to wait there)!. They will take a pap smear to test your cervical cells, they'll ask you about you if you are sexually active, if you are using birth control!. They will ask you about your breasts, if you do self exams, they will do one, and ask you if you know how to do them!. They are no judgmental, don't worry!. That is about it!. I know it can be intimidating not knowing what to expect!. The nurse will weigh you and get your medical history!. Then she gives you a gown to put on !. The doctor comes in , talks to you a min!. You put your legs up in stirrups and relax!. Trust me, even if you do look different, they have seen it all before!
