Help!! Girls only!?!

Question: Help!! Girls only!!?
I have a figure skating competition on saturday and I have my period! My mom doesn't want me to use tampons, but if i don't i'll leak for sure! How can I convince her to let me use them!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
well tell her you're growing up and you don't want to look like your wearing a diaper in front of tons of people (i hate pads)

hopefully she'll understand
if she doesn't i would just do it anyway
how is she going to find out
of course you want her support and all, but sometimes you have to do what you have to doWww@Answer-Health@Com

Well, maybe because I am older than most of those who answered your question, I would not recommend lying to your mother!.

I do not know how old are you, but I assume, you are young!. Using tampons is not necessarily the best, or healthiest option for periods: tampons will push bacteria up in your vagina, where, in that dark, wet and warm place (just like bacteria loves it!) the blood will cook, but have no place to go!

Your mother might also be worried about breaking of your hymen (loosing your "viriginity")!. Well, technically, you are a virgin, if you haven't started intercourse, and being a virgin does not seem to be such a huge deal these days any way!.

Another thing to consider, that you might "leak" even when using a tampon, and probably would have to wear a "back up" pad anyway!. I believe most figure skating routines are not longer than maybe five minutes!? Perhaps you can make sure you change your pad (they make "sport pads" that are almost invisible, and are not like diapers at all) just before you are going to perform, and change them right after!. They are not likely to leak in that period of time!.

If you still feel strongly about wearing a tampon, I agree with the person who suggested talking to your school nurse, and asking her for input and/or bringing this up to your mother!.

You're right, it is your body, and at the end, it is your decision!. However, keeping an open and honest line of communication with mom is more important from now on, than ever!. So, don't lie!. Demonstrate what a mature, wise, and truly great young woman you are, by getting the facts, and having an adult conversation with your mom!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

i suggest you talk to her about it, start crying!. that usually gets them, but if that doesn't work, i suggest you do it anyway and if your mother finds out, it'll be a lesson to her that you're growing up and the competition obviously means a lot to you!. sometimes not listening is the only way to get your parents to listen, but i'm pretty sure that if you just talk calmly to her about and explain your point of view accurately, she'll understand!. good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Don't tell her!.!.!.try using tampons yourself!. I got it right pretty much right away!.!.!.read the instructions and don't worry about it!. I used regular tampons as a virgin and had no probs!. My mum still can't talk about periods and tampons and stuff and I'm 30 now!!! If you have your period now, you will be fine with just a tampon on saturday!.!.!.put it in before you shower!.!.!.clean it all up down there!.!.!.and you will be fine!.!.!.trust me (I was a bit of a gymnast in my day)!.!.!.and my mum didn't want me to use tampons either!.!.!.i found that it was just more convenient to use them and get on with my life!. There does come a time when you don't tell your mom everything that you do!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

How old are you!? Maybe your too young, try considering to her that it wont hurt and your not too young!. And maybe your period might be delayed, sometimes it does!. It's at random times, that's one bad thing about it!. And did you tell her that it'll leak!? She doesn't want you embarrassed does she!? Then maybe she should let you!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Just use them!. she is not going to know!. your mother doesn't need to know the ins and outs of your life 'so to speak' \
What she doesn't know doesn't hurt!. its your body!
It would be pretty good for you to learn to keep your periods and how you deal with them to yourself and not tell mum!. Just get mum to stock up on the pads and tampons and she will be none the wiser!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I'm not a real advocate for keeping things for your Mum, but as a Mum myself I think that this is something that is your choice!.

As long as you use the tampon safely, and change it regularly, then their shouldn't be a problem!.

As a woman myself I know how self conscious I'd be the whole time if I didn't wear a tampon, and how embarrassed I'd be if I leaked so publiclyWww@Answer-Health@Com

You are right!.!.!.you need them if you are in an athletic event!. Many of us who are athletes use them without any problems whatsoever!. Ask her to call an ob/gyn or talk to a nurse in an ob/gyn's office to reassure her that it is okay!. The only thing you need to do is change them often so you don't get Toxic Shock syndrome!.
Good luck with the ice skating!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

You do not need to convice her and just use it regardless !.
She does not need to know after all it is for your own comfort !.
If you would rather use tampons than S!.T!. Would it be your second day and that would be your heaviest !? You would protect yourself by wearing pads !. It depends on the how heavy is it !.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I might not be a woman, but it's your body, not your moms!. If you want to use a tampon, go right ahead, unless there are other reasons that a tampon would hinder your performance!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Provide your mom with a gruesome description of what could happen if she doesn't let you wear a tampon!. If she caves in, try Platex gentle glide!.!.!. Good Luck with that competition : ]Www@Answer-Health@Com

Personally I'd sneak one and just not say anything!. I know thats not good advice and you should just talk to your mom!.!.!.

But well!.!. thats what I'd do!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

tell her just what you told us!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

yeah just tell her what you just told us=DWww@Answer-Health@Com
