I have had Mirena for 1 1/2 years now! I would have to say that I love/dislike it!.!.!.!.I know that sounds confusing and maybe a bit odd!.!.!.!.I have my reasons though!.
When I first had my Mirena placed it was VERY painful (had a C-section,which I guess makes a difference!?)!. Then when my Mirena was placed my bleeding seemed to last FOREVER! I'm talking at least 3 months and this was pretty much bleeding straight for three months (maybe on and off 1 or two days)!. I do have to say things got better after those three months and I was no longer bleeding!. The only issue I was having was my spotting!.!.!.this was on and off for awhile!.!.!.and sooo unpredictible (I hated that!!)!. I would say after 9-10 months I stopped getting my period all together!.
I Do enjoy this form of birth control as it IS just/almost as effective as tubal ligation!.!.!.without being permanent! I Think that for a time I enjoyed the "no periods", but not AS CRAZY AS I MIGHT sound I miss them! I almost feel less womanly not getting them!?!!?
OVERALL:
I think that it is great in preventing pregnancy and its gonna last us 5 YEARS! YAY!.!.!.!.!.Also I believe that I have read that after having Mirena removed you can become pregnant within at least a year:) I really overall enjoy it!!
