Too scared to take morning after pill..........?!

Question: I had unprotected sex last night, foolish I know. My man blew in me by accident and now im afraid that I might become pregnant. Thing is, I went out and purchased the morning after pill but I have a phobia of any kind of medicine and I stay scared long after I take them, especially medicine I have never taken in my life. What is the worst thing that the morning after pill can do to a person?

The most common side-effects of the morning-after pill are headache, nausea, painful breasts and irregular vaginal bleeding.

One very important side-effect of the morning-after pill, or 'post-coital contraception', is pregnancy. This is more likely if you waited more than 24 hours after unprotected sex before seeking medical advice, or if sex took place more than once.

Until fairly recently, the standard advice was that the morning-after pill could be taken up to 72 hours after sex, but recent research has shown a significant chance of the pill failing to prevent a pregnancy occurring if taken at this time.

This is why doctors now advise that the morning-after pill should be given as soon as possible, preferably within 24 hours.

If the morning-after pill doesn't work and a woman becomes pregnant unexpectedly, there appears to be no problems to the unborn baby - although it is not possible to give an absolute guarantee of this.

Most GP surgeries now have a practise nurse experienced in contraception who can give advice and information about effective pregnancy prevention. It is always a good idea to contact either your surgery, or local family planning clinic (look in the Yellow Pages) for a personal consultation on this subject.

You'll get your period and before that, generally, the pains that can be associated with your period. You might get nausea too. Let's just say that at worst, you'll feel queezy for a few days and maybe a little down. It's not a big deal...

P.S. If your man "blew in you by accident", that means that you're having unprotective sex but that he pulls out "just in time", right? Not a good idea to avoid pregnancy. Semen can be "released" before ejaculation and without him noticing. Lot's of people become pregnant using this "method"...

from personal experience- my period came earlier ; on most women there is no reaction and some others will vomit or have headache ; other then this , no other bad reaction- in case u can beat ur phobia. good luck and try to beat it:))

Side effects with Plan B? include nausea, abdominal pain, fatigue, headache, menstrual changes, dizziness, breast tenderness, vomiting, and diarrhea. Menstrual bleeding may be heavier or lighter, earlier or later after taking Plan B?.

If your period is more than a week late, pregnancy should be considered. Do not take Plan B? if you are allergic to levonorgestrel or any of the ingredients in Plan B?. Plan B? should not be used as routine birth control.

Seriously though, it's only 89% accurate and if you have a phobia of medicines, don't do it if the risks bother you. It is said these symtms can last 2 weeks...I found this info on the Plan B site

Now that you bought it...it makes sense to take it.. unless you want to risk a pregnancy.. if you have problems swallowing it..crush it up and use it in a bit of water... what is worse... your fear of taking a medication or becoming a mom...? You have to decide soon...think about the possible consequences .. could you support a child? As there is a 50/50 chance for you to be pregnant.. do you want to gamble. Nothing bad will happen it's no different from taking the normal anti baby pill only that you did not do that...so you and your partner for the future if you don't want to be parents yet and don't like medication have to think of an alternative way to practise safe sex...

Good luck xxx

it made me feel a bit sick

The worst thing that it can do is make you feel a little sick to your stomach. Trust me, take it!!! You can't risk getting pregant. Unless you'd like to be. But nothing bad will happen to you from taking the moring after pill.
