Anyone else put of sex, because of the fear of getting pregnant?!

Question: Im 18, all of my friends have had sex exept for me, im the only virgin, and i think the main reason being tha tim terrfied of getting pregnant, i know there are condoms and you cna go on the pill.. but still there is a chance and i know it sounds stupid but i jsut dont want to take that risk. For Me getting pregnant is like the worst thing that could ever happen, i even have nughtmares about it. I dont want kids untill im atleast 27+. Ive seen so many girls from my school get pregnant and have kids, a few even have 2 children now, and there only 18! I just really REALLY dont want to end up like that. And i know there is abortion and that is what i would do, but it must be such a horrible thing to go through.

Yes!! i was terrified (still am to be honest), but especially when i first started having sex. At least you're being smart about it though. If you REALLY don't want children though, you just have to be especially careful and use condoms, pills, spermicide, double up and triple up on everything. And just know that if it happens it was meant to be, because if you do all this, the chances are SO low.. you may as well get struck by lightning. But yes, to answer your question, i totally understand where you are coming from on this.

i can see what you mean kind of (i'm a guy though)
i'm scared of getting a girl pregnant...

that's why you let him *** on your face:D
lol just kidding

it could be because you just haven't met the right person yet ... relax don't rush into something with the stranger down the street who has aids...

I personally am not, but there is nothing wrong with that. Who cares what other people think, stick to your own values. Do it when you are ready. But I wouldn't wait till you are 27. I can understand the fear, but the kids in your school must be really unresponsible, to have 2 kids already that is crazy. You just have to be careful make sure the guy wears the condom properly and be on the pill for at least a month before you have sex. Also, try and figure out the safest time of the month to do it, there is a time between your periods that is really safe. Don't worry about it though, if you are not ready, don't let people push you into it.

Take your time you will know when the time is right, always use condoms there is very little chance of you getting pregnant, those girls at your school have probably never even had sex using a condom so, just wait for the right time.

Good Luck

Use condoms as well as another method of contraception such as the pill or the implant. It is said that there are no known pregnancies from having sex with the implant fitted, which is a very impressive track record! In case you don't know, it's a plastic rod the size of a hair pin inserted into your upper arm and lasts for three years. You could talk about this and other methods with your doctor or at a drop-in clinic.

The idea does scare me and I have made some mistakes that made me extremely worried. But now I am with someone I love it scares me less. Don't feel pressured to rush into anything, but if you meet someone special and want to sleep with them, consider discussing your fears with them. It doesn't sound stupid at all, pregnancy is very serious.

Stay safe and well done for being so sensible. 18 is not old for a virgin, it's a very respectable thing. If and when it feels right, try to relax as much as possible so you can both enjoy it.

Take care xx

Don't feel bad for feeling the way you do. You are actually making a smart decision to wait for sex until you feel OK about maybe the possibility of getting pregnant.

Yes, there are alternatives such as condoms, the pill and abortion. HOWEVER...condoms do break, pills are never 100%, and abortion is NOT easy and simple. It's painful and emotional even to the hardest heart of them all!!

So...you're OK, you're normal, there's nothing wrong with you decision, and until YOU are ready, don't let anyone tell you or make you feel any differently.

Best of hopes to you...
