well most the answers only answered half of your question which is them telling you that its safe to use tampons which it is.

as to putting one in safely, my technique is buying a small one like the smallest one they have until you are comfortable using them because your vagina's not very used to tampons especially super ones. however if u use a super it will still go on but it might hurt a bit more.

anyways this is how i first did it and still do it
I dont use a mirror i just stand up and put one foot up on the tub or toilet and sqaut down and use one hand to open my vagina walls and the other to put in the tampon and once the tampon is in i can let go and push the plunger and take the applicator out.

you just have to stay relaxed.

if you have a tampon without an applicator which is fine i suggest you laydown and use one hand to open your vagina and the other to put the tampon in and make sure u push it in far enough so that nothing but the string is out.
also you have to ain towards your back.

sometimes when i first put in tampons it would be in but not all the way and i was told to take it out and put in another, you could do that or if you take the applicator out you can use your hands to push in the rest of it unless it really doesnt go then get a new one.
you might even have trouble walking, i know one of my friends had trouble walking the first 3 days using a tampon because she could feel it and it was hard on her.anyways stay relaxed and just put it in. if it hurts just keep trying

im me on susanhak@yahoo.com (messengers) if you have anymore questions.

[please pick me as best answer]

yeah its safe. you just proly didnt put it all the way in.
go to google and look for a tutorial.

take the wrapper off and stick it in, gently of course

Ask a female whos close to you, not strangers on a computer...

u probley need a smaller size maybe u should just ask a friend to explain it!
lol make sure they are close friends who arent gonna make fun of you

read the directions they can help you

shove it up your minge!

its definately safe to use them now .
Id try using tampons that are PLASTIC , not cardboard .
and it probably hurts cause mainly - its your first time .
so yes it will hurt because you need to break your heimen Lol .
usually you can sit on the toilet , or stand with one leg up on the toilet and you just put it almost straight up gently .
try reading the instructions my dear .
and I recommend usuaing tampax sport - really easy to use , and last : )

If you buy a package of tampons they usually have a step by step process on how to do it with pics. & of course you can use them now.. don't forget to take the plastic/carboard piece out after putting hte tampon in place!

Hope this helps!

the first few times is always difficult. try to relax all of your muscles and not tense up. use a plastic applicator and gel so it slides in easier and wait until it stops. it will take a couple of tries and may be a while until it doesn't hurt...try only wearing them a few times and build up to wearing them more often and always be careful about leaving them in. i try not to go over 4-5 hours.

there is a direction kit in the box i no it sounds weird but i had to use it cuz i didnt no how to use it

it will feel weird for a while but u will get use to it!

ask your mom...geez what r we here for if our daughters can't ask us how to use personal hygiene products.

It's safe to use tampons, yes. Make sure you change them regularly.
In regard to putting them in, it takes practice. When I first started using tampons it took me nearly a whole box to get it right! You just need to relax and experiment and try and find the right way to put it in. If you don't put it all the way in, it will feel uncomfortable, so take it out and start all over again. Make sure you are using the smallest size you can buy, too, as it will make it a bit easier.
Good luck!

Well if you just started your period, I'm going to guess that your a virgin. It was painful to insert the tampon because your hymen (a piece of skin near the opening of your vagina) was still intact. Many girls actually break their hymens using a tampon, rather then during sex, but it's very painful for some girls and it will likely take you several tries to get used to putting in a tampon. There are fairly clear directions in most boxes of tampons, first though I would recommend that you get the slim or teen sized tampons because they will be much more comfortable and easier for you to insert. You should also wear a pantyliner on your underwear to catch any extra leakage that the tampon misses.
It is safe for you to use one, just learn the correct way to insert it, so that you are safe, and don't leave it in any longer the 4-6 hours, or they can cause Toxic Shock Syndrome.
Good Luck,
If you need step by step directions, message me and I'll be happy to give them to you

I used tampons the second day I got my period. I couldn't stand pads. It is safe there is no reason not to. You obviously did it wrong, it doesnt hurt. The first time I used one it hurt because I used tampax. I RECCOMEND playtex sport. Ease instertation and grat absorbancy. in every box of tampons there is a well costructed set of directions.
