This is quite common and research has proven that women who spend alot of time together (ie at home or work teams etc) tend to syncronise their cycle.
It is believed that it is a result of pheromones*
Note that this is when women are following an 'uninfluenced' cycle. For instance, a cycle dictated by the oral contraception pill will obviously be influenced by the artificial introduction of hormones.

no women live in the house with me but I swear my husband gets his period the same time!!! GRRRRR
yea, women who live togehter tend to cycle together too. the hormones affect other females in the vicinity. I feel bad for my dad, both my little sister and mom have begun cycling together since I left for college.
no, my mom and i take the same birth control, but i take it for 3 months so i have 4 periods in a year, and she doesnt.

After a while, everyone's hormones synch up unless two or more are on a different pill cycle - If only one is taking the pills usually everyone else adapts to that cycle - My mom and two sisters (still at home) have the schedule.
