How does BC work?!
Question: My girlfriend is on birth control, she used to be on the pill but shes been on the shot for a couple months now. I was wondering how birth control works besides regulating her period. Does it stop her from releasing an egg or what? What makes it so she wont get pregnant and what are the chances she could get pregnant? Thanks :)

It does stop her from releasing an egg. As far as how effective it is, it depends on what type of birth control she is using. The shot (I am assuming Deprovera) is very effective, 99% in fact. So that means for every 100 women that take the shot, 1 would become pregnant. The only thing with the shot is it does not protect against sexually transmitted diseases. So, for the most part you should not worry that she will become pregnant, the shot is a very safe birth control method. :)
Here is a web site that explains how it works...
