Answers: She is going to go to the doctor, but not until next week.
Please help me list out the symptoms.

I personally have Hypothyroidism. I was gaining weight like crazy and I went to the doctor and they tested it and told me what was wrong.

Her are some symptoms:

Fatigue
Weakness
Weight gain or increased difficulty losing weight
Coarse, dry hair
Dry, rough pale skin
Hair loss
Cold intolerance (can't tolerate the cold like those around you)
Muscle cramps and frequent muscle aches
Constipation
Depression
Irritability
Memory loss
Abnormal menstrual cycles
Decreased libido

I hope I could help and everything goes good and your friend is ok.

you cant. just support her until she gets to the doctor. my mom had thyroid, and one symptom was shakey hands. just comfort her, and i pray she'll get better like my mom did<3

tired all the time

Let the doctor determine this based on a blood test.
There are many different kinds of symptoms and they vary so widely, why worry about it until she has a blood test?

It is different from person to person. She is going to the doctor and a blood test will determine that. Just wait and see.

Okay, I have underactive thyroid and here are some of my symptoms: Dry and itchy skin, feeling tired, pain in wrists, puffiness in face, weight gain, feeling cold when nobody else does. My friend has overactive thyroid and she is quite thin and eats a lot, plus she's hot and can sweat a lot when nobody else thinks it's hot, plus sometimes her heart races. Hope I helped.

hii
my friend has a thyroid problem
she has swollen glands below her chin, and around her throat. if she goes to the doctor it is probably likely she will have blood tests to determine if its a thyroid problem.
hopefully its not though! hope she's feeling well soon.

anxiety

Sometimes there is a visible bulge on throat area. Sometimes eyes become bulgy. It depends on the type thyroid problem. Best to wait and have doctors do tests. It is very important to have thyroid treatment if that is the case.

mayoclinic.com
you can be tired with no explanation, a sudden gain or loss of weight, worst-case senario you can have a swollen neck/ in front of your throat.
TSH is the test name.
that'll look at your thyroid hormones. (T3,T4)
you can also go to wikipedia.com and type thyroid .
but mayoclinic.com is the best.

Hope i helped. :]

The symptoms vary depending if she is hypo or hyper. With hypo, everything slows down. You are very tired, gain weight, almost can seem like depression. With hyper it is just the opposite. You can't sleep, you are really hyper, and sometimes your eyes bulge out. Either one is quite treatable with thyroid meds. It will just take a simple blood test.

There really isn't a way to know for sure if your friend HAS either Hypothyroidism (too slow, or not working at all), or Hyperthyroidism (much too fast) without a series of blood tests to check for her levels. There are several symptoms of thyroid problems...including cold hands and feet, severe fatigue, hair loss, weight gain or loss, insomnia, depression...the list goes on. Some of these symptoms are also found in other disorders...so even with all these symptoms it is possible that your friend's thyroid isn't the culprit to her misery.

Thyroid problems (both types) run in my family, and all the symptoms I listed above were present in both my mother and grandmother (mom has hypo, grandma has hyper). I TOO had these symptoms and was tested...but was found not to have a thyroid condition..but Type II Diabetes instead *sigh*. As I said above, there are many disorders that share the same symptoms with thyroid disorders, so a series of blood tests and a doctor's evaluation will be the only sure-fire way to know what is going on with your friend's body. It could be something very "simple", and very curable. Your best bet is to keep your friend calm about the situation, and assure her that going to the doctor next week is the best decision she could have made. If she is really antsie, you can also advise her to call her doctor's office and ask them that, if anyone cancels their appointment with the doctor in the meantime..if they could squeeze your friend in a bit sooner. The worst they can say is "no", and it doesn't hurt to ask.

Good luck to your friend, and let her know that I said that she isn't alone in her worries.

I love you!

First of all do you want to know about underactive or overactive? I'll just list brief symptoms for both.

Underactive - fatigue, weight gain, depression, headaches, mood changes, dry skin, dry thinning hair, slow heart rate, constipation, muscle and joint aches

Overactive - weight loss, anxiety, diarrhea, headaches, nervousness, increased sweating, increased heart rate

Testing should be done first thing in the morning only. Most likely a TSH will be done. Your friend should find out the number and just not accept positive or negative. If possible additional tests like the free t4, free t3, and antibody test would tell more

no... I am not a doctor of medicine...

but I did once play one on television....

ever seen "ENFARTO?"

tell your big hairy friend to go to the doctor asap before she starts growing balls

nausia, heartburn, indigestion, upset stomach, DIAREAH
