I've always had a male doctor... I love my ob/gyn... He delivered my daughter... Now, the doctor who will operate on me tomorrow is a female.. She's an excellent surgeon but I just haven't warmed up to her yet.. My usual surgeon retired.. And he was the best.. I guess I just have to give her a chance..

hmm. my doctor is a female, so it doesn't really concern me. I've never had a male doctor before, it depends on the guy. But i'm pretty happy with my doctor.

yes, I prefer female doctors.

my dr's are male and it has never bothered me. They get in, do the exam and leave. AS long as they are compatent and professional, it doesn't matter to me. Plus I like them, they know how to put me at ease and do take the time to get to know me, not an assembly line dr.

My gyno was a man,he delivered my daughter and I always felt comfortable around him. However he has now retired and my new primary is a man and I too am thinking I need to change it.I guess I was just really comfortable with my old Dr..Now though I would feel more at ease with a woman Dr..It may be a comfort level issue for you as well,If you're other Dr is a man but someone you have been seeing for years and this is a new one.

I'm a guy and I've always preferred women doctors. Male doctors seem to be so full of themselves and you can barely get a word in edgewise, it's zip into the exam room, yap -yap, and out they go. Women doctors talk and listen and take the time to answer questions. The "physical" part doesn't phase me at all - I stopped giggling when someone would say "penis" or "vagina" when I was 13. They're doctors, they see body parts every day.

I actually prefer them to be the opposite sex.

I've had a few female doctors, and ended up having major personality clashes with all of them. The male doctors, on the other hand, actually listened to me.

This is purely anecdotal experience, and shouldn't have any undue influence on what you decide. But you did ask.

I don't really care what the sex of my doctor is as long as they can find correctly what is wrong with me. Women are more comfortable with another women because women feel that they can open up more, be understood, not be taken advantage of. While women are picker about male doctors. If you really don't want to go to this doctor then don't. It is very important that you feel comfortable with your doctor no matter if male or female.

I've always had male docs and sometimes I wish I had a female one.

Yes I do care if my doctor is the opposite sex. I prefer females because I feel more comfortable with them. If it bothers you to see a male doctor, you can request that a female do the check-up or have a female in the room with you. They shouldn't have a problem with that.

if ever i will go to a doctor..i would like to check that she is a she and not a he...because i am a truly shy female and i cant console to him especialy now that i want to see an OBGyne--- and i really want a female OBGyne!... :-)

I prefer a doctor of the opposite sex, ESPECIALLY when it comes to dropping my pants, turning my head and coughing.

Not at all.

He will be just one of many to see you naked.

1. It's normal to feel uncomfortable with someone new.
2. If it bothers you that much see if you can switch to a female
3. As a man I've had exams from female doctors and it never bothered me. They see this stuff all the time. The same goes for nurses.

um well it depends who the guy is. I mean if i know who he is (not personally) then it wouldn't matter to me. But i would rather have a girl. but you should be able to change your appointment to a female doctor. but mine's a girl so this doesn't really bother me.

I'm male, and my MD is female. No problem. It's completely up to you, whether you're comfortable with an opposite-sex doctor or not. My own experience is that the individual doctor's style has a lot more to do with my comfort level.

i am a female & i prefer a male doctor....

gyno was a male and whe i gave birth it was a man who delivered my baby girl i dont have a problem with it

my ob was a male, I loved going to him when I was pregnant.
I think some female doctors don't listen and they make it seem like we could be over exaggerating our pain because they may have experience it all.
But my male doctor was funny and very gentle. At first I didn't think I was going to be comfortable, but he is very knowledgeable doctor. So everything I asked he had a answer for and he address all my concerns.
