Birth Control that wont show up on insurance?!

Question: Hello my girlfriend was on the pill until her mom found out and took it away from her. Me and her still want to be safe but we dont want her parents finding out. I heard that planned parenthood offers the pill, but how much does it cost? Let me also include that she is 18.

Planned parenthood or county health clinics both offer pills that won't show up on her mom's health insurance. Planned parenthood uses a sliding scale based on how much she earns to charge for pills and are pretty cheap. The county health clinics offer exams and pills for free. You have to wait in line, but you get a years supply for free with one exam--at no cost to you. Then she will just have to keep the pills, and extra packs out of her mom's sight. ---I would rather hide the pills from my mom than risk getting pregnant.

you should set up an apt with pph because their costs are based on your income.

Many Planned Parenthood office base it on income, so if she has very little income it's cheap. Also, Yasmin is a very inexpensive BC, and it works. I have been on this for 3 years now, and I pay $27 a month at my local pharmacy. She could always call her Dr. and ask for a cheaper prescription,

...Use a condom.

Or, the better method of birth control- don't have it until you're married and are willing to accept babies. Or NFP, or spermacides.

There's plenty of methods besides 'the pill'.

Last I knew they went by income.
Best plan, don't until you are married.

Some places give it for free.... call planned parenthood.

I think it's irresponsible for her mom to take it away from her, it won't stop her from having sex and has just upped the chances she'll get pregnant too young... some people just don't think...

she can get it free @ planned parenthood and everything there is private, they won't tell her parents.

Ok.. here's the deal.. If your girlfriend is 18... she can do anything she wants when it comes to her body. Now... that doesn't mean her parents have to pay for it. So... I would suggest that you and your girlfriend sit down with her parents and start your conversation off like this.

We want to talk to you because we've decided to have a baby. I know we aren't married and she is still living here under your roof but it's something we are wanting to do.

Now.. they will poop twinkies and have a fit. Just play along and tell hem how great it will be they will grandparents and that you'll be good parents. You'll be able to finish your education while ya'll live with them.

Then... when you've got their blood pressure up high enough, tell them that they are right... this isn't the right time for a baby. So... we need to get her back on the pill and that you and her will be paying the cost. When they balk at that.. then go back to having a baby! Tell them that you really don't want to have a baby but the chances of not getting pregnant is much higher with out the pill.

If they bring up the 'abstinence idea' then don't even address it... just jump back into.. pill or pregnancy... make a choice.

Good luck and I hope this helps.

BTW: This is all based on both of you are over 18. If not.. ignore everything I said because below the age of 18... they parents wishes are first and foremost.

The kind you pay for yourself doesn't show up on insurance.

If you are both over 18, you're adults and shouldn't expect others to provide your contraception.
