Pelvic exams are done for many different reasons. To check for pre cancerous cell of the cervix, in pregnant women to see if the cervix is staying closed on it own, or to see if it's dialating in child birth, post abortion to make sure the cervix is returning to normal shape and size and to make sure the abortionist did the job correctly and didn't damage you.
