OB/GYN question...?!

Question: I'm 21 and a virgin. I went to the gynecologist last year but she didn't do much b/c she said I wasn't sexually active. Do I really have to go again this year?

I would, since you never know what might be going on that you can't predict, anticipate or even be aware of. I'm also not sexually active, but recently had a pap smear that contained "abnormal cells." It might mean nothing, but I had no way of knowing what might be going on despite. A check-up would be good to ensure that everything is alright.

If you're 21, still a virgin, and are not experiencing any problems with your vagina or menstruation, I see no reason for you to have to go again this year.

i wouldnt go until you lose your virginity , she wont do an internal as long as your hymen is intact , so its a waste of time unless you have a problem with something

yes !

Call the Dr. and ask them...don't rely on non professionals

you should just in case, your doctor could notice some abnormalities that could save your life

Why do you have to go to your OB/GYN in the first place? If there's really a need for you to go and that includes your personal health status, then I think you have to go again this year...

I .. wouldn't.
Seriously, if you're not sticking anything up there.. I think you're fine. I would definitely reccommend going to get your Gardasil vaccine. In my opinion, it's the best vaccine out there. If you haven't received it yet- you might consider going.

It protects against the STD called HPV~genital warts, and it also helps protect against cervical cancer (which is fairly common). You could still get cancer w/o being secually active.

It's awesome you're still a virgin- I'm 21 and have a 2 year old son already. But if I were you, I would go to the ob/gyn only if you are interested in recieving the vaccine. Good luck!

Women who are virgins still need to have annual pap smears to try and catch possible problems that can occur such as cysts (giving an example only) early.

I would recommend checking with your primary care physician to see what they say.

You should continue to go each year. Whether or not you are sexually active, you can develop abnormal cells or even cancer. Your gynecologist can give you a pelvic exam even if you are not sexually active--he or she will just use a smaller speculum.

Your gynecologist might notice something that you wouldn't, otherwise. It's better to be safe than sorry.

the only reason a 21 year old should be visiting an OB/GYN annually is if there is an illness or possibly if there is a family history of cancer or issues at a very young age. since you are a virgin, chances are you are not pregnant (that would be the only other reason besides illness).

Always get your regular OB-Gyn check ups...

You can still have problems with out being sexually active.

Not to scare you but young women can get things like cervical cancer and other things like infections that if not caught early can render you unable to have children and terrible things like that.

Virgins should go to the gyn every year, they are not exempt from gynecological cancers. Cervical cancer, ovarian cancer, breast cancer... The importance of annual exams for all women is crucial.

no there is absolutely no need to go, certainly not when you are a virgin.
