Your menstural cycle can stop for the following reasons:

pregnancy.

premature menopause (this can affect women in their early twenties)

weight loss

weight gain

some forms of medication including the contraceptive pill or injections

drug abuse

stress

hormonal imbalances such as an underactive thyroid gland or the overproduction of a hormone called prolactin

a condition called polycystic ovaries is a very common cause of irregular or absent periods

The treatment suggested will depend upon the diagnosis. If you are uncertain as to why your periods have stopped, seek advice from your doctor. Investigation usually involves a blood test to measure the levels of various hormones in your body.

yes, stress can cause a delay

Sometimes you're period comes late. Don't worry. Though, its a real problem, see a doctor.

Stress can cause you to completely miss your period.

get a blood test

they can only stop when u get old.... and are u sure ur not pregnant did u take a pregnancy test???

if your sure you haven't done anything with the opposite sex then i guess you don't have to worry. stress can cause periods to be late. finals are coming up for me also, so i guess i have that stress too. though if it hasn't been consistent, you might want to go to the doctor and check on that.

It probably has to do with you losing weight. When I starve myself for a long time, then sometimes I miss my period until I start eating again.

STRESS CAN DEFINITELY DELAY IT! Happened to me before. Don't worry just try to relax and be calm, it'll come soon!

are you anorexic? seriously, have you not been eating? because that will definitely cause you to not get your period.

Thats so weird! I havent gotten mine since mid november and I was just getting curious about it!

Well i only have my period 11 months out of 12 and yes stress does cause lateness

things like this are normal...different people take it in different ways...mine used to be irregular, then sorted themselves out and then I'd go back to having like 3/4 a year. 2007 was a bit of a raw deal for me as I was on for around 50 out of the 52 weeks of the year [eek] - think urself lucky hehe! I do have PCOS tho so that contributes to it! being stressed can most certainly delay them, as can losing weight! no need to worry - it's just your part of growing up! =]

You don't say how old you are, but I would definately see an ob/gyn. There can be many reasons for this and being a woman who was having problems just recently and found out I do not have cancer but do have pre-cancer cells, very highly recommend getting an annual check up, whether you have sex or not! In answer to your question, stress can delay your period, but not sure it would delay it that long.

It can happen for several reasons. For example, somebody that works out too much will stop getting it all together. Weight change can also cause it and I believe stress can too. I wouldn't think you have anything to worry about at all. Sometimes your body just needs to do what it needs to do. I'm on depo provera so I don't get mine at all anymore and it's completely safe.

I wish I knew how old you are and how old you were when you started having periods.

Many women have irregular periods if they start at a young age.

Are you athletic? Some girls stop menstruating if their bodies become to athletic and lean.

It could be a medical problem, so seeing your doctor could give you peace of mind.

"DAVID" is so totally sick!

Don't worry. Its the stress. When I'm really stressed my period wont come from any where to 1 month or some times 3 months. I talked to my GP and they told me it is natural. Stress and other factors can do it.

you have to go to a doctor, if you dont have insurance go to your emergency room and apply for charity care, by the way, just because a home pregnancy test says your not pregnant.... doesnt mean thats true, they're as accurate as birth control is effective: about 99%. your problem could be soooo many things. u need to get checked out. good luck!

Stress can mess with it and make it late or it can even make you skip it. Also, if you are on birth control that can give irregular periods from time to time as well.

Look im a Doctor don't worry i'm very helpful with things like this. Don't worry this is very normal 20 to 30 percent of american girls have this it could be that the egg could be under stress maybe this could be stress going on with you. If this lasts more than 4 or 5 months go ask your Doctor.

girl its stress chill out, relax and maybe see a doctor one of my friends had the same problem

calm down!these things come in time.Stressing wont help

stress can cause your period to be late, and then you start stressing out because you haven't got your period yet. i'm sure it's not a big deal but if you are losing weight and haven't changed your diet or excersise routine i would go get checked out by a doc. wouldn't hurt, right?

D: It always happens to me,
Or i get my period in the same month twice.
You need to let go of your stress, because when you are stressing your muscles tense up, and the more tense you are, your period will just flow a different way because of so much stress. You need to relax and not have so much stress on you, after a bit without more stressed added to you, your period cycle will be back on its track.

some women naturally doens't produce an egg a month. the delay is certainly a problem, especially if you want to get pregant. A gyno could precribe treatment to rectify this. you need medical help. get it from the professional

you sure your daddy hasn't been touching you?
