Bleeding with Mirena?!

Question: Hi all. I had my Mirena put in at the beginning of August. Just as my physician said, I spotted off and on for two months. Since then, my periods have been normal, although the flow is much lighter (YAY!!). My period ended several days ago, but today I woke up with some clotting. The flow is very, very light, but I've seen some dark red clots. No other symptoms (no fever, weakness, etc.) Is this normal?? I've had this now for 5 months, and I figured by now, my body would have become accustomed to it. Is this worth calling my physician?

It is always worth calling your physician. Most of the time it takes abour three months for a woman's body to get used to hormonal birth control of any kind. Five months seems like too long. Call 'em up and tell them what's going on with your bod.

Good luck!

It is normal, but it's always a good idea to inform your doc when anything concerns you. They'll probably just reassure you that everything is fine & might want to see you just to check the position of the IUC.
