Great question. The virus in question does not actually exist but it is based loosely on the prepotina virus, a virus that attacks endorphin proteins in the brain thereby causing the average human to act in a zombie like fashion, but in reality, this particular virus does not alter our appearance.

Well considering that the govt keeps alot of stuff hidden from us One might never know. Could happend...

NO YOUR SISTER IS FUKING STUPID

I mean I guess its possible..I dunno about zombies like that though..

wut r u tlkin abuot

I doubt it. The government will eventually cause a massive **** up but I doubt it will turn us into zombies. And someone once said: "The world wont go out with a bang, but a sneeze." Think about that the next time you ignore a news post about the bird flu.

It could be possible but there are too many speculations and loose "theories" that it's hard to say for sure. One person may say that the movie is based on one circumstance, and another may say it is based on something else. There has never been a virus that has infected that many people in that short of a time. If you do some short research, you can find out some interesting things. Many of them are gross military experiments. Others seem to arise from the deep soils that claim their victims lives. From what I see, the movie 28 weeks later seems to be based loosely on everything ranging from viruses from jungle viruses to south Africa experiments.

Here is a website that has some interesting topics:

If you liked the movie, an interesting book to read is The Hot Zone by Richard Preston. It's a little slow in the beginning but the book is definitely a gem. Story short, it talks about a strain of the Ebola virus that is highly contagious and kills its victim quickly, and in the slowest, most painful way possible. There are some scenes that are not for those that get queasy easily but the book isn't mean to be a horror novel. It's a true story and a New York Times bestselling novel. Hope this helps!
