What are the symptoms of.....?!

Question: a yeast infection:
I know this sounds really gross, but I need some help!
I have been on antibiotics for strep throat and I think that I might have a yeast infection from it.
I have been itching and burning in the vaginal area, but I have not had any discharge. It also burns when I have sex.
Could this be a yeast infection?
The doctor wrote me a prescription for a yeast infection if needed, but I haven't ever had one before, so I'm not sure if this is one. Should I get the antibiotic, or are these symptoms of something else?

If you have a yeast infection such as Thrush then yes you may get an itching and burning sensation down there with no discharge. In the UK you can buy Canestan from most pharmacists. This normally helps.. if you can't find it in the shops then go back to see your doctor.

It sounds like you have thrush - same symptons as i had - try pouring actimel pro-biotic yoghurt over your vaginal area and then rinse with cold water and then continue to drink a pro-biotic drink everyday or you could get canestan products which works as well as the yoghurt method. another tip straight after sex rinse with cold water and it doesnt sting/burn then and remember if you had unprotected sex your partner will probably have thrush too.......

Yeah, that sounds like a yeast infection--a common side-effect of antibiotics, which kill the bacteria that keep the yeast from taking over. The man you have been having sex with might now have a yeast infection, too. Tell your doctor, he might prescribe something for the guy. Don't have sex until a certain number of days after you are cured, either.
