SLT or Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty is used quite often to reduce ocular pressure but only when eye drops for glaucoma cannot control eye pressure. It is generally done as an in-office procedure and only takes about 15 minutes or less for the actual procedure. You will have to wait for an hour or so to ensure that the the ocular pressure has actually come down.
Unfortunately, I could find no actual statistics stating how often SLT is used.

It's a fairly common procedure as far as ophthalmic surgeries go; I'd think it's probably in the top ten. As far as intraocular pressure (IOP) treatments go, medical (drug) therapy is substantially more common. Probably 10% or less of people who have treatment for high IOPs have a laser procedure.
There are different types of glaucoma / high pressure, which react differently to different treatments. SLT (selective laser trabeculoplasty) and its older cousin ALT (argon laser trabeculoplasty) are used for open angles; LPIs (laser peripheral iridotomies) help with narrow angles. I don't know exact stats on what's used how often, though.
I'm an optometrist.
It is actually used allot for those with glaucoma, but usually you only hear of laser eye surgery for refractive errors but normal laser surgeries are still widely used to reduce ocular pressure.
Good luck
