How bad do your eyes have to be to wear contacts?!
Question: How bad do your eyes have to be to wear contacts?
Answers:
If things are going a little blurry temporarily, that may just be variations in your tear film, which distorts things at a distance more noticeably. If you blink and it goes away, this is just your tear film, and it is completely normal.
Or, you may be nearsighted (short sighted in the UK). I would suggest that you see an ophthalmologist rather than an optometrist, or at least find an optometrist who is recomended.
If you are nearsighted, you can choose glasses or contacts. Let the doctor know that you prefer contacts.
Let the doctor know that you want to correct this. There is no strict guideline for when to prescribe, and if you want correction, that will influence the decision. (That said, one diopter in either direction is a rough guideline, but it is not an exact cutoff.)
Contacts become reasonable when they are strong enough to be needed all the time.
If you have a very mild correction you only need for movies , TV and driving....you are better off with glasses that can be removed easily and quickly.
When you feel you need your correction all the time is a good time for contacts.
