Got brake fluid in my eyes; Will I be alright?!
Question: Got brake fluid in my eyes; Will I be alright?
However I decided that once I got back home I would check with the local doctor to see if I really was ok, but when I got home I found out that the doctor closed at 15:30 (I get home at 16:10). And I have no way of getting to the closest city to see the doctor there.
The reddening of my eyes has started to go down and it doesn't sting much, it feels more like I've got some specs of dust on my eyes. There hasn't been any noticable alteration with my sight yet either, but I just want to make sure.
...So I ask you guys; Will I be alright?

I think brake fluid is pretty micible with water, so it should have dissolved and washed out pretty easily when you washed you eyes. The irritation always seems to continue for a while afterwards. However, if there is any doubt, get your eyes looked at. I presume you were bleeding or dismantling brake lines under pressure, probably they should procure some safety glasses for their shop. I'm thinking they didn't send you to the doctor because they didn't want a recod of there being another injury there and them possibly geting in trouble with OSHA, etc. And yes, when I took shop, somebody got a finger chopped off in a horizontal milling machine, it wasn't a pretty sight!
probably - it's not ideal but the right first aid was given, you should have washed your eyes out for several minutes each.
however I'm not a doctor - so go for a check up in the morning. And if there is a medical helpline you can call, call it.
can't be any worse then getting gasoline in your eyes, I really got it sprayed into my eyes working under a car...my eyes were burning and turned beet red. Everything went kinda burry and I was scared. Turns out it ruined my contact lens I was wearing..went to the eye doctor and he said everything is going to be ok...years later my eyes are ok.
