Can facial trauma have an effect on overall vision?!

Question: Can facial trauma have an effect on overall vision?
When I was 7, right at the end of the school year, I was involved in an accident which completely shattered my nose - I ended up needing total reconstruction of it. Between the end of 2nd grade and the beginning of 3rd grade I went from good vision to getting my first pair of glasses, and I don't recall the actual prescription but the eye doc did lecture my mom for letting my vision get so bad before coming in. There are plenty of family members with very poor vision but I am the worst by far. (-10.50 nearsighted and astigmatism is somewhere around 3.00) Long story short, I'm wondering if the impact of the accident could have had an effect on my vision. Any answers would be greatly appreciated.

It sounds that they are two separate things, i think you had your refracitve error before the accident and you and your mom noticed when you first went to get your eyes checked, the kind of trauma that affects vision is either in the back of your head or a really strong one on your forehead that causes injurie to your optic nerve and neither of those improve with glasses

Something like that would have come one a bit more suddenly. Though in all reality your theory is entirely possible
