Has anyone here had surgery for a lazy eye?!

Question: Has anyone here had surgery for a lazy eye!?
if so how was it!? I have been thinking about it for the past 5 years, but I am terrified!. My left eye goes in towards my nose!. With glasses its not noticeable, but I'd like to not have to wear glasses 24/7!. I had a consultation with my Doctor last year and he said that the risks are minimal!. Afterwards, he said your eye is bloodshot for about 6 weeks, eye drops daily, painful, and the procedure could only last for 10 years!.

Has anyone had it!? I know it would give me more confidence and I really really want to do it, but I'm so terrified of surgery!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

Hey there,

you have every right to get the surgery if you want it honey, that doesn't mean you're shallow!. This is a very personal choice!. Now, first of all surgery is surgery and there are risks but you already know that!. The surgery is successful in most cases and if you have a trustworthy reputable surgeon, the likelihood of success is all the more increased!. You can't fix a lazy eye with contacts!. Glasses tend to fix the lazy eye with a prism!. Surgery is the only permanent option for getting rid of your esotropia!. There are a lot of factors that have to be considered but they have a very favorable result!. Even if it does last only 10-15 years, you can get it re done!. I have seen tons of cases where there have been no complications at all and have been happy and comfortable with the way they look!. Good luck to you!Www@Answer-Health@Com

It sounds like you have accommodative esotropia- the crossing of your eyes when you are not wearing glasses!. Contacts should help you(!) unless you also have bifocals in your glasses, in which case you may still need reading glasses!.

Surgery is usually recommended only if glasses or contacts don't straighten your eyes!. If you have a bifocal, surgery may also be considered!. It is generally covered by insurance, but, as with most things, is considerably more expensive without insurance!.

You should totally look into contacts!. :)Www@Answer-Health@Com

I don't know if contacts will work!. But I did have the surgery when I was around 10!.!.!.I'm now 23 and my eyes are still straight!. It was painful but not bad!. The first day after surgery its painful but more of a stiff feeling!. If I didn't move my eyes it didn't hurt at all except for a bit of an ache!. The eye drops kinda sting but not too bad!. Really all in all it is way worth it!. Trust me!. For me the worst part was the first day or so then its not bad at all!. Plus since you are probably older than ten they will give you better pain meds :D Shouldn't be bad at all!. Do it!!Www@Answer-Health@Com
