Why do I see tie-dye?!
Question: Why do I see tie-dye!?
If you press lightly on the upper part of your eye (side that's closest to your nose) while it's open, there's a bit of a tie-die effect in the opposing lower corner!. What is this!? Www@Answer-Health@Com
Answers:
You are mechanically stimulating the retina, and causing some of the cells to fire, sending a message to the brain which is read as light since normally it is light hitting these cells that triggers them!.
The image in the eye is inverted, so a stimulus on the nasal side of the retina (optical or mechanical) is read as coming from the opposite side of the vision,
It's an interesting phenomenon to note, but it's not something to do regularly: there is a theoretical possibility of triggering a retinal detachment, though I've never heard of an actual case!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
