I fell asleep with my contracts in. Is there any harm in that?!

Question: Coming from an optician of 3 years.. Yes, don't do it! :-) When you fall asleep wearing contacts your cornea cannot get an adequate supply of oxygen.. Not good.

i do this as well. i know that it isn't good bc there is the risk of your contacts getting stuck behind your eyes (which is very painful as i have heard). i just can't seem to break myself of the habit though.

yes there is...your cornia can't get enough oxygen..which will lead to a swollen cornia. Believe me it hurts a whole lot. Headaches that lead after that hurt a whole bunch...so no more naps with my contacts on. By the way you mean you sleep with them on for the night or just a short nap? Sleeping with them on at night is a no-no. Your just hurting yourself more there. You can lose your eyeball in a matter of minutes.

Yes, the eye will be lack of oxygen thus result in redness and dryness.
