Intraocular contact lenses???!

Question: Does anyone have any info about this kind of procedure?
It seems a better idea than a laser surgery because this is a short procedure and allow the lenses be removed, if necessary. I hate both glasses and contacts because they're both uncomfortable and I'm really into having an eye surgery so this indeed can be a better idea than the laser. thanks

I've had the lens implants put in my eyes about 17 years ago. I had congenital cataracts. It was the best thing that happened to me. I really have had no problems at all. One lens was posterior and one was anterior. The anterior on is tender sometimes. But the doctor said that eye was tight and difficult to work on. But really, I much better and it's a small price for me to pay to have the vision I have now. Happy Valentine's Day. 2D

Its a very awesome procedure because this has allowed several patients who were told they cannot do the procedure in the past are now able to have refractive surgery.
HOWEVER, it is much more invasive than Lasik or Intralase and is typically only done in extreme cases (people who are highly myopic with thinner corneas)
I would go to a Lasik consultation and if your prescription is below a -9.00 OU or so and your corneas are thicker than 550 ums, I wouldn't even consider an IOC.
Good luck whichever route you go though, it's the best money you will ever spend.

IT'S WAY MORE INVASIVE THAN LASIK. I HAD AN UNCLE WHOSE PRESC. WAS -TWENTYSOMETHING AND HAD GLAUCOMA, THE PROCEDURE SAVED HIS LIFE! (OR GAVE HIM HIS LIFE BACK LOL)

IF YOU ARE JUST NEAR/FARSIGHTED GO FOR LASIK, THIS ONE IS A REAL "SURGERY", THEY HAVE TO PUT YOU TO SLEEP AND REQUIRES SOME DAYS OF ADMISSION FOR RECOVERY, SO IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH LASIK, WHICH REQUIRES NO MORE THAN A 30 MINUTE VISIT TO THE CLINIC!)

The new era of refractive surgery will be replacing the lens in the eye with a multifocal implant. This is the same as a cataract procedure. The rate of complication is the same and probably less than lasik. It is called a clear lens extraction and is already being done.
