Alternatives to glasses?!

Question: I have bad vision and I'm very overdue for glasses. -sighs- Do you think I have bad vision? I sit about two meters away from the TV and I can't read the writing very well.

I don't, repeat, DON'T want glasses. Are they're any alternatives? Can you wear contacts before even using glasses? And I'm a teen, so I can't get surgery.

Yes you have bad vision. of course you can get contacts before you get glasses. a lot of people do. there are soft ones and hard ones, but the hard ones are for people who have astigmatism. ask your opthamologiist (or even just a optometrist at a lens crafters or something) for more detailed information.

i suggest you to go to your opthalmologist. he can advise you better.

nevertheless, contact lenses could be an option. and btw, wearing glasses isn't so bad! you just have to go to a good optician and find a nice frame that fits your facial shape. i'm wearing specs and i'm lovin' it. =)

yeah contacts are fine even if u never had glasses before. Contacts are great especially nowadays they have so many many different brands and everything! So many options its not even funny check out http://1800color.com or http://1800contacts.com just to get an idea of what is out there. so make an appointment with ur doc and get an eye exam then chose what u want. So when ur old enough u might consider the surgery but then u might be fine with the contacts even many many years later. I have been wearing contacts since I was 11 and Im now in my early 20s! I know wow! But I am thinking about the surgery kinda getting sick of contacts.

No you dont have bad vision... if you can see perfectly clear 2 meters away then you likely only have between -.50 and -1.00 diopters which is pretty much the lowest prescription you can get.

if you can see perfectly clear up to 1 meter then you have 1 diopter if its half a meter its 2 diopters, a third of a meter is 3 diopters and so on...

either way your vision is slightly blurred, wear glasses if you feel more comfortable if glasses are an issue try contacts but truthfully with that perscription you likely dont need anything... everyone is different in the way the take blur though so its your call :)

personally I like a small blur i find it gives everything a nice soft texture to it, everything is not always "shouting" at you if you know what i mean

anyways good luck!
