Help!! I have bifocal contacts, but I can't wear them because there are alwa!

Question: I have tried cleaning them with everything that I know to do; but I still have smudges on them. I have almost given up hope on wearing them. Does anyone else have this problem??? I do wear eye makeup so is that the problem?? I would appreciate any answers. Thanks!

I would be very surprised if what you are complaining of is actually "smudges" on the lens. I once attended a conference where 6 contact lens specialists were sitting on stage fielding questions from the hundreds of eye doctors in the audience. One member of the audience asked, "Why is it that all the contact lens companies claim to have bifocal lenses that have a high fitting success rate but I seldom am succesfull when I fit a bifocal contact lens?" One specialist said, "I would like to answer this question." Then he looked at the audience and said, "If you will remember just 5 words, I promise you will never have another failed bifocal contact lens fit again." Of course everyone got quiet and listened closely. He then said, "Bifocal contacts don't EVER work!"

What he was saying is that the technology we currently have for bifocal contacts seldom allows the patient to see as clearly as they would like to see. The few patients that are succesful are not succesful because their vision is clear. They are succesful because, for them, even though their vision is not that great they are willing to accept the degraded vision they have because they would rather see moderately well at distance and near than be dependent on eyeglasses. So you're probably not noticing smudges. You are noticing the blurred vision that is unavoidable in bifocal contact lens wear.

Hard or Soft lenses? I would go back to your Doctor to let them in on what is happening to you.

I once bought a pair of regular glasses that I thought had the exact same problem... I bought cleaning solution and scrubbed and scrubbed, yet still the "smudges" never went away

I got frustrated went back to the store and explained, they carefully checked the lens and said that there was actually a minor lens "wave", apparently its a mistake when they grinded the lens... they apologized and replaced it with no additional cost

the new ones were much better
I dont know if thats your problem but i REALLY thought they were smudges

ask them to take a careful look when you get a chance

.... I JUST REALIZED YOU SAID CONTACTS... WELL IF YOU EVER HAVE THIS PROBLEM FOR GLASSES THEN THERE YOU GO :P

You should go back to where you got them, ask the doctor.
