My eye sockets are sore and my eyes burn... what is wrong?!

Question: i wear contacts during the day and then when i'm not out or just sitting around the house and/or sleeping i take them out and wear glasses. well recently my eye sockets have been hurting. almost like a headache in my eyes. i was wondering if it could be a serious problem. i haven't gotten my eye exam for this year yet. i am due for one in mid Feb. so very soon. should i be worried and what can help the pain and burning?. oh and also i happen to wear a ton of eye makeup but i haven't changed brands or anything and i never sleep with it on. i keep my eyes clean and everything. i'm simply wondering what could be causing the pain.

most commonly, your symptoms come from the eye being dry. The simplest thing to do is leave your lenses out and use artificial tears or rewetting drops. If it is dryness, your eyes will feel better.

Sometimes you can develop an inflammation in the eye from overwearing the lenses, in which case, you need to stop wearing them altogether until the symptoms go away.

Very rarely, an eye ache can be serious. Of course, you should always see your eye M.D. for a checkup.

if you rub ur eyes with eyeliner on and it gets in ur eye it can burn a little

it's all about the process of elimination here...it mite be the contacts...i would strong suggest you see a docter about it, or discontinue using the contacts. if the pain goes away, you no it was the contacts! if not that it may be the makeup..its good to experiment with lots of different brands. get some eye drops they work a treat and should help with the burning.
