Eyes are burning, im wearing contacts?!

Question:

Eyes are burning, im wearing contacts?

I just changed my contacts yesterday morning but
like today i woke up at 5am cause my eye was really sore and it hurt like hell so i took the contact out but it was still hurting like crazy and it was swollen and red but then i went back to sleep and when i got up it had stopped hurting and looked normal
but then i put the contact back in and its been burning all day like when i close it it burns
I take my contacts out once a week and put them in the solution thing in the container over night for 1 night and then i leave them in for a week but last week i didnt do that cause i was gonna throw them out the following week anyways
i leave them in the solution every friday night and then after 4 weeks i change them. This contacts i just put in on friday

Answers:

If your contacts are made to be worn overnight, then you shouldn't be having this problem. But your eyes may be getting an eye infection, or you may have allergy eyes, or it may be something else. I would call your eye doctor to see if you need to be seen. More than likely you will, because they can't tell what's going on unless they exam you. I would go to your regular eye doctor because your eye doctor not only prescribes glasses and contacts, but also treats minor medical eye conditions(if they are an optometrist). If your eye doctor is an ophthalmologist, stick with them because they already know your patient file.

And just to let you know, there are many extended wear contacts that are perfectly safe for the eyes as long as you adhere to the proper wearing schedule. In fact, there are some out there that allow more oxygen to the eyes than standard 2 week daily disposable lenses. Oxygen filtration is one of the major factors that determines contact lens safety.

Bottom line--go to your eye doctor and leave your contacts out until you can see the doctor.
