I have a red dot in the white of my eye, what is this?!

Question:

I have a red dot in the white of my eye, what is this?

I looked it up on WebMD and it's called a "subconjunctival hemmorrage" (yuck). Says it will go away within a few weeks, but has anyone else had one of these? Did it go away? How long?

Answers:

a subconjunctival hemmorrage *is* a broken blood vessel. those 2 terms are synonymous.

and most subconjunctival hemmorrages take about 4-6 weeks to completely go away, by my own anecdotal experience with patients...
