I was wondering can I buy a seperate frame and THEN take it to the eye doctor so he can in the prescripted glasses?

I meant lens not glasses. * So the doctor can put in prescripted lens.

Yes... it is very common for people to do this!
Most opticals will do this as long as they have the appropriate equipment. As long as the optical (or the optical lab they deal with) has lens edgers that trace the lens shape before cutting them they will have no problem. Majority of opticals will do this service for you!
Just make sure the frame is made for the purpose of having prescription lenses in them and your good to go!!!
