There is the possibility it could get infected if not properly cared for.
If you feel as though it might be infected, then go visit a doctors office. They will clean it and teach you how to continue caring for it afterwards.
In the meantime continue to clean it with handsoap and water, and put polysporn or burn cream on it if possible.
