PLEASE HELP!! infected gauge(spacer)ear piercing +stiff neck?!

Question:

PLEASE HELP!! infected gauge(spacer)ear piercing +stiff neck?

i put a 1.6mm steel stretchin crescent in my 2nd ear piercing in 1 of my lobes. it was painful2sleep on+a bit crusty, so yestrday i decided2remove it coz it was just hassle. i tried to remove it carefully but coz its a solid crescent+the gap between both ends its quite small, it was too painful2remove, coz by pullin the front end out, would send the back end into the back of my lobe hole. its started bleeding which caused me2 faint coz i hadnt eatn much+it was early in the AM. i later cleaned away the blood surroundin the piercin bt its hangin in there @ the front of the hole. i can hopefully take it out wen its less sore 2dy. i didnt hav a problem wen i put a 1.6 + later a 2mm in the 1st hole in my lobe!

MY WORRY IS bak of my jaw on that side has been quite stiff for afew days. im sure that it occured b4 i put the spacer in, bt my mum also sed that bad piercings+ infection can lead2 it spreadin 2 the brain!
i also hav bad hayfever?cud this b the cause of my stiff jaw
please help!

Answers:

An infection in your ear lobe is much more likely to spread to your lymph nodes first. That said, it hasn't really been long enough for an infection to set in and spread like that. You didn't describe typical symptoms of infection either. Most likely the problematic piercing and sore jaw are coincidence. If it keeps up for more than a few days, go see your doctor. It's probably a throat infection rather than anything piercing related.

To deal with your piercing, downsize your jewelry and do sea salt soaks 2-3 times per day. You stretched too quickly and tore your lobe. Never wear tapers as jewelry, you've found out one of the reasons why. You'll have to wait at least 8 weeks before you attempt to stretch again, which gives you plenty of time to get a proper taper and jewelry.
