Question:
Why is it that taking too much calcium and/or iron is detrimental to health?
Answers:
some minerals are not passed through the system and instead build up to toxic levels. It interferes with the ability of enzymes to function correctly, and therefore can become deadly.
The same is true about some vitamins which are not water-soluble. Some vitamins can be taken in nearly any amount possible, because it will dilutes in water and passes through the system. (like vitamin C). Some other vitamins are oil soluble and therefore are excreted only in small amounts and can therefore build up to toxic levels as well.
