Possible blood clot on left leg?!
Question: Possible blood clot on left leg?
Note: I'm a male, and 19 years old.
Answers:
By definition, a bruise is a collection of blood. However, this location, around your shin, is a good place for a bruise and NOT a good place for a blood clot (DVT : Deep vein thrombosis).
WHEN, not if, you get your ultrasound (best noninvasive test for diagnosis and exclusion of blood clots) you will notice they do not go to that area. Why not? No named large veins there.
Can you have a clot in a different vein? Yes. You can always ask them to scan the area of interest.
You are low risk by being young and male, lower risk than female, lower risk than older, and lower risk by virtue of non-smoking (assumption).
You might not have noticed when you got it, but it might just be a bruise. I've hit myself hard enough before to have a bulbous bruise! Just massage it out to prevent the formation of a blood clot, even if it hurts. It'll start changing purple, red and soon enough yellow. Then poof! Gone! I'm sure you're fine...
this is what a blood clot should progress into: http://static-cdn.guyanapublications.com…
any concerns like this should be addressed by your dr but it is probably just a wound but go to the Dr's if you are worried
its unlikely to be a blood clot
how did the bruise occur
best wishes
If you think it's serious, you should probably see a doctor instead of asking internet goons.
