Answers:

Two of my kids are earwax factories. Debrox doesn't help them. Their doctor told me to mix equal portions of hydrogen peroxide and rubbing alcohol and put a few drops at a time into the affected ear (one at a time) - keep that ear pointed up so none of the liquid pours out. Let set several minutes, then using an ear syringe GENTLY suck the liquid out. The reason for mixing the peroxide with alcohol is that the peroxide will soften the wax, and the alcohol will speed evaporation so you're not left with fluid in your ear that can cause problems of its own.

Repeat up to three times a day until the blockage is removed. More than 3 times in one day can irritate the ear and discourage further treatment.

When the wax is up against the eardrum, a doctor can take a special tool - looks like a tiny shoehorn - and scoop the wax out. That's painful though, because it's so close to the eardrum and that far in it's usually inflamed and tender.

HOWEVER - if I keep their ears candled regularly, the peroxide/alcohol drops aren't even necessary.
