why doctors advise to keep ice on injured part of human body?!
Question: Why doctors advise to keep ice on injured part of human body?
Answers:
Cold therapy with ice is the best immediate treatment for injured parts of the bodies because it reduces swelling and pain. Ice is a vaso-constrictor (it causes the blood vessels to narrow) and it limits internal bleeding at the injury site.
the usual advice for a strain/sprain injury is cold for the first 48 hours after injury and heat thereafter. the cold is *only* to reduce/eliminate swelling, if the injury is a type that doesn't swell up, you can go straight to heat therapy for fastest recovery.
The cold from ice narrows the blood vessels in the area, reducing the amount of blood flow. It also reduces the inflammation. Hope that helps!

Ice reduces swelling and should be used instead of heat. The ice will help but don't use it for more than 10 minutes at a time.
