How to be the best caregiver/health aid?!
Question: How to be the best caregiver/health aid?
Answers:
The most important thing is you have to care. I am a caregiver to individuals with developmental disabilities. I have coworkers who are just here for the paycheck, they are the ones who make med errors, overlook things, have bad attitudes etc. You have to be patient, and kind, but most important you really do have to care. How can you take good care of someone if you don't care about them? Treat them as though you would want your family member treated if they were in that situation.
Compassion & empathy mostly. Think of what it must be like to be them.
Also remember, pain is no fun, and people will often be cranky towards you because of it - so don't take it personally.
Just as important, knowledge of health and common sense.
