ok so i can relate im on my second ankle surgery in 6 months so ill tell you how i felt personally after my first surgery and i was non weigh bearing for 4 and a 1/2 months. your leg will just feel really weak not painful but just really weird not in a bad way. it also feels like you dont want to bend and straighten your knee. but all this goes away after about 3 days it feels more normal again. you may get a brace. therapy can be really hard but you have to push yourself somedays its really easy with just icing massage and ultrasound. it all depends on when you therapist thinks your ready it could be from 6 weeks to 12 weeks. dont worry they fixed it it will hold up much better no then before.
Dont worry it shouldnt hurt. Its just gonna feel different cuz you havent used it in a while. Therapy is hard work but its worth it. You might have a brace for physical activity. Therapy is just different times depending on how weak it is. Probably like maybe 10 weeks for you
First off, your ankle will be very sore and weak. You did not use it for a long time and so i t lost a lot of muscle mass. What i did is i used a simple flimsy ankle brace and it felt pretty good. Im sorry i cant help you with the therapy question, i only broke mine.
a sprained ankle causes you more scared to cry and free of one foot to another problem
Your ankle will be stiff and you will have muscle wastage from it being immobilized. You MUST do the stretching and strengthening exercises - no excuses. It will take quite a few months to get yourself back to pre injury status, but you shouldn't have any longer term effects.
You will have to "lead" with your good leg when going upstairs and vice versa when going downstairs. I cannot stress enough how important it is to do the exercises, it will be hard at first but it will get easier. If you don't do them, it will not ever get better properly.
Forget high heeled shoes for at least 6 months, they put too much strain on your ankle. You will also have to avoid some sports like netball or skiing for a while. Aqua therapy, like walking / running in a swimming pool is the BEST exercise, non weight bearing. Good luck.
Very similar injury at 17. Took quite a while to come back to 100% but despite the doctors view, I was a sprinter, I did make it back to the track!
