Because you're temporally soothing it with the heat. Drinking something hot isn't going to cure our throat entirely, although it does help. Just drink a lot of fluids, rest, and stay cozy. Og and be consistent with it. Don't drink something warm once and believe it's all over. That's how my brother stayed sick for three weeks.
