How can you wipe a person who can't stand after they use a commode?!

Question: How can you wipe a person who can't stand after they use a commode!?
I am primary caregiver to my grandma!. She can't stand on her own, although she can help a little with transfers!. We are using a stand alone commode (in other words, with the bucket)!. Unfortunately the way the house is set up we can't get her into the bathroom to use it over the toilet!.

Anyway, she can wipe herself for #1 but can't reach to wipe after #2 so I have to do it!. Right now I do it the same as the transfers - she stands with her arms around me and I reach around to wipe!. The problem is I cannot see what I'm doing and I can't reach very well and so she doesn't get very clean!.

Please HELP! I don't want to leave her messy but I also don't want to risk dropping her or hurting myself!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I know it's going to sound unpleasant, but after your grandma is done going to the commode, you need to remove the bucket and wipe her while she is still sitting on the commode!. If you're transferring her to bed, put down something to protect the linens and then wipe her!. Also, using wet wipes makes the job go a little quicker!. Hope I've helped!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If you can take the bottom of the commode out (the bucket part where the urine and feces goes) you can have her scoot forward a bit and reach under the toilet seat (where the bucket used to be) to wipe her buttocks!.
It is very nice of you to care for your grandmother!.
Hope this helps, it's what we do in the hospital (nurse)!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

Try using baby wipes the moistness will help the problem some!. The best solution of all is a bidet but it sounds like that's not an option!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You can't look into your own butt can you!? You wipe until you are clean!. Do the same for her!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
