Chlorine in an open wound question?!

Question: Chlorine in an open wound question!?
I cut myself around 3 weeks ago!.
It was a deep gash about an inch long and fairly deep (A nurse recommended stitches, by the time she looked at it it was too late though)!.
Soon (approximately 1 week) my school is going to do the swimming unit (I go to a public school!.!.!.!. the pool is probably filthy)!.
This cut still hasn't healed completely and is open and bloody though it is healing!.!.!. slowly!.
I'm just making sure, but!.!.!.
it wouldn't be a good idea for me to do the swimming unit, right!? (the unit lasts 2-3 weeks)
Because all sorts of bacteria could get in it, and it could mess up the cut even more than it already is!.
I just want other peoples' opinions about it!.
Thanks :)

So long as it isn't bleeding freely, you're fine in a pool (and even then, that's more for other people than you)!. The chlorine is a pretty good disinfectant, which is why they put it in the pool!. Chlorine is only dangerous to people in gaseous form!.

Ideally, you'd want a waterproof bandage on there while in the water!. Shouldn't be to hard to find something to cover a cut that size, but make sure you take it off and let the wound breathe after!. A regular bandage would be ok, but make sure you change dressings after and dry the wound well!. Keep a good eye on it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Well actually chlorine kills most bacteria very well!. I'm just unsure what it would do to an open wound!.

If I were you though, I wouldn't do it if the pool is "really dirty!." No point in risking an infection on a deep gash!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
