Pictures of diseased lungs on cigarette packets?!

Question: Pictures of diseased lungs on cigarette packets!?
Do you agree with this!?

I'm a non-smoker, and don't agree with smoking, but I don't think it's fair to ruin it for people who do!. They all know it's bad for them, but they should be allowed to smoke without a disgusting picture in front of them!.

I mean, we don't put pictures of clogged arteries and obese people on McDonald's packaging, do we!? It's the same principle!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I really don't think it will make a blind bit of difference on smokers if these pictures are on the packets or not!. I quit smoking 4 and a half years ago, I had been a smoker for 12 years before that and watched no end of hospital programs with people suffering from smoking related illnesses and pictures of diseased hearts and lungs!. It didn't make me want to quit!.

What made me quit was when the midwife explained to me how much damage smoking does to your children!.

Did you know that nicotine on your fingers can actually give new born children chemical burns!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes i do think that smokers are targeted unfairly!.I do not smoke myself but i cannot help but think that alcohol is more of a problem than cigarettes!.Anti-smokers say what about the problem of secondary smoking but alcohol causes far more secondary problems!.People being killed by drink drivers people being hurt during car theft and people that are hurt during drunken fights!.Plus the vomit we have to cope with on our pavements and urine in doorways!.We also do not mention the families that are broken up and damage to property all caused through alcohol!.Alcohol also causes illness and damage to the liver, kidneys and brain so what cost is this to the taxpayer!.Even with all these problems we do not see a picture of a diseased liver or beaten wife on the label of a bottle of wine or can of beer!.For people who think i must be anti- drink,i am not and do enjoy a drink but i am aware of the problems it causes!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

There is a huge difference between smoking and lung cancer and obesity!. If you are obese (and it's not just MacDonald's that makes you fat) you can see yourself getting fat and can diet and try and do something about it, but with lung cancer you can't see it so if a picture on a cigarette packet helps people see the damage then I'm all for it, no matter how disgusting it looks!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I'm an ex heavy smoker!. I realized too late the error of my ways, but too late!. I now suffer from chronic bronchitis and also peripheral arterial disorder, both a direct result of smoking!. So whatever can be done to persuade people from smoking should be done!. Apart from the health aspect I certainly have a lot more money in my pocket!. Perhaps something similar will be done for obesity as well!. There has been a start already on alchohol, telling people to drink responsibly!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Very good point!. But it could be said that eating fast food isn't hazardous to people in the area where you choose to eat it, smoking is another thing!.

I lost both my parents (and at least 6 workmates) to smoking, my parents started smoking in an ere where they were told smoking was actually good for them!.

If the pictures turn one kid away from smoking, I'm all for it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I am actually for it!. I mean who knows it could change someones outlook on smoking!. Smoking has no benefits to it either, well may be it calms people down, but it is hazardous to your health!!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I took up smoking later than most (I was in my early 20's) so yes I knew what I was doing but I justified it by saying I was only smoking a few when I was out in the evenings!. Within a couple of years later it got to be during the day as well as I got a job where I had my own office and in those days you could smoke at work and then I started smoking in my flat as well!.

Then I started noticing that I wasn't breathing too well and if I got a cold I would be gasping for breath!. Eventually I managed to give it all up and I strongly believe that if the packets of cigarettes had those images on them back then I doubt that I would have kept smoking for as long or as much as I did!.

As for the photos on the MacDonald's packaging - just give it time!!!!!!!Www@Answer-Health@Com
